Welcome to Craft and Chat. On Friday’s I have Craft and Chat where I can say what is on my mind and hope you will too. I do not know about you, but I will be glad when this election is over. I am at the point I do not care who won. Let’s have a winner so we can deal with what really matters. I am more concerned about covid and how we are going to stop it from killing people. It sickens me how divided we are. We have the world looking at us, and I am sure they are laughing at us. What are we showing the world about democracy? Wake up, the United States, and my Christian brothers and sister, we have God watching us, and what He thinks we are showing the world is what matters. We are His light, and I am afraid our lights are not shinning the right thing. I know we who read my blog are doing the best to shine our light, but even we need a reminder now and then. What time is it? Card making time gets comfortable, grab something to drink, and meet in the craft room.

 

Crafting Steps

For weeks I have been working on Christmas cards. I do not know about you, but I need a little Christmas cheer. What better way for us to get then to make a Christmas card.
I try to do techniques that do not require special tools to do it just in case you want to make the card with me. Today’s card is a shadow box card. It is my first one to make, and my thought was what better people to make it with. I know you will not judge me if I fail at making it. Let’s begin and spread some Christmas joy by making a shadow box card.

First, we are going to start with a piece of white card stock measuring 8 1/2′ by 11′ cut in half, which gives you two pieces of card stock measuring 5 1/2′ x 8 1/2′. Take one of the 51/2′ by 8 1/2′ piece of card stock scored it down the middle at 4 1/4′. After we do the scoring, we are going to cut a 1/2′ off one side and set it aside. For the next piece of 5 1/2′ x 8 1/2 card stock, we are going to score at 1/2′, 4 1/3′, and 4 3/4′. Fold all score lines. The flap with the 1.2′ scoreline cut a little off it. On the side, with the flap, we need to cut a window out. I used a frame die to cut the window out. 

After I cut out the window, I added strong glue to the one-inch flap. I took the glued flap and lay it inside the card stock; we scored at 4 1/4′. I stamped and cut-out a winter scene to add to the inside. Last I wrapped the back and glued it with strong glue.

Word of the Day

If I had to pick a word for today, it would be healing. In all my years, I never felt we need healing as I have felt the last few days. I realize there are some people, do not want to heal. I believe in people, and I pray we will start loving our neighbors and get along with each other. That is a movement I could join. Be safe, and find time to craft and create.
